Rena Johnson Creative Expressions Studio Artist
RENA JOHNSON is a Central Georgia self taught artist who is interested in the two dimensional shapes of objects. In her works she incorporates realistic ideas with unusual shapes and images. Her work is primarily abstract. She responds to the fluidity of the paint, and the shape of the objects. Her process is a metamorphosis from the beginning to the end, constantly changing until the finished product.
Her work has been exhibited locally at the Art Fix Gallery at GCSU, Marlor Art House, the Daylily Festival in Gray, GA, Deep Roots Festival and the music therapy department at Georgia College & State University. Rena is an amazing artist and has been very busy this year exhibiting her artwork. Rena has won numerous awards including 1st place in the 2010 EMAC exhibit for her artwork, “Lady in the Lake”, and Honorable Mention in the GA Artists with disAbilites exhibit for her artwork entitled, “Food Plaza”. “Food Plaza” is currently part of a year long, state wide tour sponsored by the Pilot Club of Metro Atlanta. She has also been featured in a variety of locations in Atlanta, GA including the Coca Cola Company, the Georgia Power Building and Mason Murer Fine Art as part of No Limits, an exhibition featuring Georgia Artists with disAbilities.
