Katie Whipple, MMT, MT-BC, Creative Arts Coordinator
Katie Whipple is a board certified music therapist and serves as the Creative Arts Coordinator for the Life Enrichment Center where she directs the Creative Expressions integrated arts program. She earned a Master of Music Therapy degree from Georgia College & State University. She has presented at the 2007 American Music Therapy Association national conference in Louisville, KY. She directs community music therapy performances, leads group and individual music therapy sessions, runs studio art classes & provides opportunities for visual and performing artists to be active members in the community through art exhibits and competitions. She supervises the Creative Arts staff, music therapy interns, and a wide range of volunteers from psychology students to music therapy students. Pat Black, Folk Art Instructor
Pat Black is our folk art pottery teacher. She is a well known local folk artist in Milledgeville, GA. She guides our artists through the process of hand built creations including clay bowls, "earth" necklaces, plaques, and more. She also guides them through the process of creating other crafts including "tie chairs", hand painted gourds and okra pods just to name a few. Her creativity is an endless journey of fun and learning. Most recently Pat curated Waste Not: A Recycled Art Show. For more info visit our story in the Union Recorder.

Casie Pace, BA, Studio Art Instructor
Casie Pace is the newest addition to the Creative Expressions Team! She has come on board as our studio art instructor where she teaches a variety of studio art classes including painting, printmaking, drawing and jewelry making. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from Georgia College & State University in 2011. She has volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club, The Give Center, Central State Hospital, Milledgeville Farmer's Market & The GCSU Art Department designing and creating murals in the local community. Katie Schmitt is our outdoor education instructor. She has joined the Life Enrichment Center and Creative Expressions team to provide outdoor community based programming. Katie obtained her Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Education with a concentration in Environmental Science from Georgia College & State University in 2007. Katie has experience with working with volunteers as the Education Specialist at Lockerly Arboretum where she designed and implemented environmental education classes. Katie has worked with our nature explorer groups for over three years by coming out once a week to assist with outdoor programming.
